Rockabilly Ray, born Ray Sanchez, has become a renowned tattoo artist, blending his cultural heritage with a passion for the skater and punk rock scenes of the '90s in Mexico City. His journey began with a homemade tattoo machine, as he inked friends within his community. The pivotal moment came when a skater friend showed him an advertisement for a professional tattoo machine. With the instrumental support of his mother, Ray acquired the machine and established his first tattoo set-up in his parents' house. Despite the language barrier, he and his friends meticulously decoded tattoo magazines for techniques and inspiration, sharing knowledge in an emerging Mexican tattoo scene. Ray's ambition led him to the United States, where he honed his craft at New Skool Tattoo in San Jose, acquiring valuable skills and insights. His perseverance eventually opened doors in Venice Beach, Los Angeles, overcoming racial stereotypes. Today, as Rockabilly Ray, he stands as a testament to creativity and determination, captivating clients with his distinctive artistic style.
